As the realities of climate change and peak oil are realized globally it is important to develop approaches that will help each of us transition to a lower energy existence. Using his roles as a planning consultant, educator, and volunteer, Steve Whitman is actively working on this transition toward a low energy future. A low energy future will rely on conservation, local resources and economics, a pattern of downtowns and villages, sustainable transportation choices, and renewable energy alternatives. Steve believes that Permaculture is an ideal framework for this transition because it allows each of us to work toward greater sustainability at any scale.
Steve is working on many different approaches to reach individuals that are interested in a more sustainable world for their community and themselves. This transition requires communication, cooperation, innovation, and planning. Working together we can find environmentally appropriate solutions and improve the quality of life for future generations!
